Postdoctoral Positions in Cosmology at KASI
The cosmology group at the Korea Astronomy and Space Science Institute
(KASI), Daejeon, Korea invite applications for up to 2 postdoctoral
fellow positions in theoretical/observational cosmology to work with
Dr. Arman Shafieloo. One position is available as early as November
2015 and another position will be available from April 2016.
Cosmology group at KASI consist of Drs. Yong-Seon Song (PI), Ki Young
Choi, Arman Shafieloo, Eric Linder (as a visiting professor) and
currently 5 postdoctoral researchers and a PhD student. The group is
consistently growing and is active in various fields of cosmology
including observational cosmology, primordial inflation, cosmological
perturbation, large scale structure and dark energy. Our group at KASI
is a member of major wide-deep field surveys such as DESI (and soon
LSST) and have close connections to other KASI survey involvements
including KMTnet, JCMT, ALMA and GMT.
For one of the positions we are particularly interested to a young and
enthusiastic researcher to work on large scale structure data (real
data and future data simulations) to test and study different early
universe scenarios.
For another position, we are interested to an applicant to work on
advanced statistical methods of data analysis and their applications
in studying various cosmological observations. This could involve
working on innovative algorithms to deal with large flow of data from
future cosmological surveys (Cosmology Big Data) such as LSST.
The positions are initially for two years, with the possibility of a
third year depending on the research performance, mutual agreement or
funding situation. The starting date of the appointments are
negotiable. Interested applicants should submit their CV, a list of
publications, and a statement of research interests to
icapadmin at kasi.re.kr and CC to Dr. Arman Shafieloo -
shafieloo at kasi.re.kr. They should mention in the subject of their
email that they are applying for cosmology postdoctoral positions.
Applicants should also arrange for three letters of recommendation to
be sent to the same addresses. First position can be filled by
November 2015 in case of availability of a suitable applicant and
deadline is 30th of June 2015. Those who have strong backgrounds in
astrophysics, observational cosmology, theoretical cosmology and/or
have expertise in advanced statistical methods of data analysis are
encouraged to apply.
