Dear Colleagues/Friends,
The cosmology group at the Korea Astronomy and Space Science
Institute, Daejeon, Korea invites applications for four postdoctoral
fellow positions in observational/theoretical cosmology. Positions are
for 2+1 years and available from September 2018 but it is also
possible to start earlier. I am in particular looking for a
postdoctoral researcher to work on advanced statistical methods of
data analysis and developments of different algorithms to deal with
large flow of data from future cosmological surveys (Cosmology Big
Data) such as LSST. Please kindly convey the message to anyone who
might be interested.
Application submission deadline is ****15th December 2017**** and one
can find detailed information about all four positions in the
following:

Please let me know if you have any question.
best wishes,
Arman Shafieloo
hi cosmo-pl
Here are three cosmo/extragalactic postdoc positions as advertised by
the French PNCG (Programme National - Cosmologie et Galaxies).
Cheers
Boud
6. Post-doctoral position on ERC ByoPiC, IAS (Orsay)
7. Postdoctoral fellowship for Cosmological simulations, ICE-Barcelona
8. Post-doctoral position in observational cosmology, IPNL, Lyon

*6. Post-doctoral position on ERC **ByoPiC, IAS(Orsay*)
The ByoPiC (The Baryon Picture of the Cosmos) team, funded by an advanced ERC
grant, invites applications for two postdoctoral positions at the Institut
d'Astrophysique Spatiale (for details see https://byopic.eu/job_opportunities).
The successful candidates will work on:
* the development and optimisation of statistical methods 1) for
global identification, supervised classification and reconstruction
of the cosmic web; and/or 2) for the detection of cosmic filaments
and super-clusters/voids.
* the study and characterisation of cosmic web elements, in particular
filaments and super-clusters, from hydrodynamical simulations.
Candidates are invited to submit their application at
(https://byopic.eu/form/job-submission). The anticipated starting date is
September 2018, but earlier dates can be envisaged. For full consideration,
applications should be received by Dec. 15, 2017.

*7. Postdoctoral fellowship for Cosmological simulations, ICE-Barcelona*
Position: Postdoctoral fellowship for Cosmological simulations
Location : ICE-Barcelona
Length of contract: 1 year + up to 2 years
Contact: Pablo Fosalba (fosalba ice.cat)
The Observational Cosmology and Extragalactic astrophysics group at the
Institute of Space Sciences (ICE) seeks to appoint one Postdoctoral fellow.
Priority will be given to candidates with a good background on computational
astrophysics/cosmology. The candidate is expected to be mainly involved in the
development of cosmological simulations and galaxy mock catalogs for the ESA
Euclid mission (www.euclid-ec.org <http://www.euclid-ec.org>) and the Dark
Energy Survey (www.darkenergysurvey.org <http://www.darkenergysurvey.org>) in
which the group is actively involved leading the development of simulations for
these international projects.
Related to this activity, the fellow will have the opportunity to actively
participate in the MICE project (maia.ice.cat/mice <http://maia.ice.cat/mice>),
working on the development and scientific exploitation of large numerical
simulations of structure formation (see also the local CosmoHub website for
mock data distribution, cosmohub.pic.es <http://cosmohub.pic.es>).
The group has wide access to local supercomputing facilities: the new 166,000
core and 11 petaflops peak performance Marenostrum supercomputer, the ICE
computing cluster, the Port d’Informacio Cientifica , and other
high-performance computing facilities. Senior members of the group include:
F.Castander, M.Crocce, P.Fosalba and E.Gaztanaga. The eligible candidate will
also have the possibility to develop independent research on different aspects
of observational cosmology (galaxy clustering, galaxy formation, lensing,
cross-correlations with the CMB) with a focus on large astronomical surveys in
which the group is involved (DES, PAU, Euclid, DESI, LSST), and participate in
the LACEGAL galaxy formation network activities. We expect to offer an
appointment for 1 year, renewable for up to 2 more years depending on
performance and funding, with a starting date around September 2018.
Deadline for applications is December 15, but applications will be accepted
until the position is filled. To apply, please send CV, publication list, no
more than three pages of research proposal, and 2 recommendation letters to
Pablo Fosalba (fosalba ice.cat).
