XXIIIrd IAP Colloque - July 2 to July 6, 2007 "From giant arcs to CMB lensing: 20 years of gravitational distortion" in Honour of Bernard Fort. We are please to announce the XXIIIrd IAP colloquium that will held at IAP between July 2 and 6. Each year, The Institut d'Astrophysique de Paris organizes a colloquium on a different topic in cosmology and astrophysics. 2007 will be the 65th anniversary of Prof. Bernard Fort and the 20th anniversary of the first papers on the discovery of giant arcs. To celebrate this event, the XXIIIrd IAP colloquium will focus on gravitational distortion: rings, giant arcs, weak lensing and cosmic shear, distortion of CMB anisotropy maps. 1st announcement of a Summer School for Young Researchers on MULTIWAVELENGTH ANALYSIS OF GALAXY POPULATIONS http://www.mpa-garching.mpg.de/~magpop/
As part of the activities of the Framework 6 EC-funded Research and Training (RTN) Network on "Multi-wavelength Analaysis of Galaxy Populations" ( http://magpop.elte.hu/), we are organizing a Summer School for graduate students and junior postdocs working on galaxy-related science. The School will be held from 6-10 August 2007 at Kloster Seeon http://www.kloster-seeon.de/seeon_engl/index.html We have reserved rooms for 70 young people at the Kloster and we will be able to fund local costs for approximately 50 students from universities and research institutes throughout the European Union. The final selection will be made by May 2007. The aim of the School is to provide students with an in depth insight into research topics of current interest, as well as instrumentation and techniques that will benefit them in their later careers.
