Zbyszek found a compilation bug in circles. :)
The bug was because of using "casting" (changing the type of a variable) in pxalloc.c in a way that was accepted (but considered "deprecated" - should not be used any more) for gcc-3.4.
Zbyszek used gcc-4.1 which no longer accepts this.
The bug is fixed (in principle) in: http://cosmo.torun.pl/GPLdownload/dodec/circles-0.1.62.tar.gz
Please feel free to check if the bug is really fixed.
